Equation #4

5 comments:

  1. There are n macbooks. The amount is doubled when an another shipload comes. Three more ships come so the amount is tripled. 15 macbooks were damaged during the trip. There are now 39 macbooks in total. How many were there in the beginning. (solve for n)

I think that the word problem is wrong. If three more ships came, the amount should have been +3, not tripled. That's just I think.....overall you did a good job.:]

  3. This word problem makes sense and when we cover the equation and try writing it just by looking at the word problem, we get the same equation. You shouldn't write the variable in your word problem though. You should just write "there are a number of macbooks" instead of "there are n macbooks".

  4. The word problem is hard to understand in the doubling, then tripling part. I think you should say "then that amount was tripled" after the problem tells about the doubling.

  5. There are a number of macbooks. The amount is doubled when an another shipload comes. The doubled amount becomes triples when more ships arrive. 15 macbooks were damaged during the trip. There are now 39 macbooks in total. How many were there in the beginning. (solve for n)
