Mr. Jobe, the hungry monkey, wants to eat bananas. On the first day, he eats 6 whole bananas. Every day after that, he eats half a banana 3 times a day. In total he ate 18 full bananas. How long does it take for him to eat a total of 18 bananas.
I liked how you named the hungry monkey. But I (JUNE) get the story but KiHwan doesn't. So I think you guys should make the story more descriptive so other people like KiHwan can understand. I do not get why you have to tell us that the monkey eats 6 bananas on day. It just makes us confusing.
The half a banana part is confusing. Try to make it clearer. Maybe he collected bananas but lost half of them. Eating half a banana is confusing to set up the problem. The equation is to divide by 2 but it is confusing to eat half a banana 3 times a day. Other than that, the problem is clear and easy.
We thought this was a pretty good word problem. It was confusing at the part; "He eats half a banana 3 times a day." It was confusing to put the problem with eating half a banana. But, overall it was a pretty good word problem .
