  1. Hi Mr. Jobe ! (:

    1. Yes, I do feel confident in solving equations. I think the most difficult equations for me is deciding which sign it is, in word problems.

    2. Yes, I think I improved on writing equations. However, sometimes I get confused about which way the sign goes in word problems.

    3. Rates- how much something is in a certain amount of time ?
Ratios- ( : ) how much something is when something else is a certain amount ?
Proportions- how much something is while looking at the whole.

    Yup ! That's all I know );

  2. 1. I feel confident in solving equations. The most difficult equations are ones with division into decimals, because sometimes it takes some time to divide the numbers.
    2. I am getting better at writing problems down. The most difficult part is understanding how to set up the problem exactly.
    3. Rate: It is things like 1m per hour and things like that. It is how much of one unit happens in another unit.
Ratios: It is comparing two or more numbers with fractions, colons, and slashes. For example, 1/2 and 1:5:2
Proportions: A proportion is a ratio which is set specifically and it doesn't change. For example, a recipe for making something could be 1:3:2, 1 gram, 3 grams, 2 grams.

  3. 1) Yes I do feel confident in solving equations now. I find it difficult when solving equations with fractions or decimals because you have to add an extra step and make sure you're multiplying the right number.
    2) I wish we could've done that a little more because I'm still not 100% confident with it. But it's definitely gotten easier since we did some during class time.
3)Well all of them are basically comparing two numbers. They all relate to each other, which is probably why they're in the same chapter. A ratio is uses division to compare TWO numbers. A proportion states that TWO ratios are equivalent and a rate is a ratio of TWO quantities that have different units. You use division with these three skills.

  4. 1) Do you feel confident in solving equations? What are the most difficult kinds of equations for you to solve?
I feel confident in solving equations. The most difficult part for me is an inequality equation. It is difficult because I get confused which side to put the sign.

    2) Are you getting better at writing equations and inequalities from word problems? What is the most difficult part of solving word problems?
Yes, I have improved on writing equations and inequalities from word problems. I do not think I have a difficult part of solving word problems.

    3) Next chapter, we will study rates, ratios, and proportions. Describe everything you already know about these topics.
    Rates-a measure
    ratio-the relation between two numbers
    proportions-number in a whole number.

  5. 1. I feel confident solving equations and the hardest ones for me are the ones with fractions and finding out which number to multiply. Also remembering to multiply everything in the equation.

    2. Yes, I think I am getting better at writing equations and inequalities. The difficult part is putting the words into the numbers and signs.

    3. I remember doing them last year but I have forgotten what I know about them.

  6. 1: I feel pretty confident about solving equations. The most difficult equations are when doing negatives and positives. Sometimes you can get them mixed up and mess up the whole problem.
2: I did get better at writing equations and inequalities. However, I do have some difficulties when the word problems said less than, at least, at most of. I still have hard time remembering them and what has the equal sign under it.
3: I did learn them in hagwon, but I do not have a clear thought. I think rate is things like rate at which something travels. Ratios are stuff like for recipe like 2:1 or 1:2:3. Proportions are something over something like 2 over 4.

  7. 1) Do you feel confident in solving equations? What are the most difficult kinds of equations for you to solve?

I feel pretty confident, most of the equations were easy enough to solve. However the most difficult one to me is the inequality that has decimal/fractions mixed with the whole number. The reason why is that I make mistakes sometimes while I am trying to take out all the fractions&decimals.

    2) Are you getting better at writing equations and inequalities from word problems? What is the most difficult part of solving word problems?

I think I really improved writing inequalities from word problems by going through this chapter. I don't think I have that much difficulties solving word problems.

    3) Next chapter, we will study rates, ratios, and proportions. Describe everything you already know about these topics.

For rate I think it is about to do with time, like speed or something
Ratio: Example of ratio is 1:2/1 to 2/1/2 it is similar to fractions
proportion:I am not sure about this one

  8. 1.) Yes, I do feel confident in solving equations. The most difficult kinds of equations are the ones where you have to clear the fractions. It's not very hard but it can get confusing and it is easy to make a mistake.

2.)Yes, I am improving at writing equations and inequalities from word problems. The most difficult part of solving word problems is putting it all together and making an equation for it.

3.) RATE: rate is the speed or amount of speed. For example, 10 miles per hour is the rate.
RATIOS: Ratios compare numbers. For example, 1:3 and 1/3
PROPORTIONS: I don't know how to explain this :O

  9. 1) I think I'm fine. I find equations with decimals and fractions harder to solve because they are a step more complicated than ordinary numbers.

2)I think I got better at writing equations, however I still hesitate when choosing the sign for an inequality. I also get mixed up a lot of time when I'm setting up a word problem equation.

    3) I'm sure that most of the topics compare 2 numbers which is probably why they are located in the same chapter. And there are tree forms in which you can write a ratio. That about all I know.

  10. I feel confident about solving equations because it just takes some simple basic steps to understand. I think the most difficult kind of equations is when there are lots of calculations to solve since there could be many numbers and could easily get a mistake. I think I feel better in writing equations and inequalities from word problems. I think the most difficult part of solving word problems is that sometimes I do not read it carefully and I sometimes read it fast too which makes it difficult for me to understand. Besides, word problems are one of my weakest point in math. I only remember ratio and I sort of remember proportion and rates but I am not fully sure what they are.

  11. 1 - I don’t find solving equations hard, but I always think ahead, that I will make a silly mistake either in the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I need to keep solving problems to make sure I do not make as much silly mistakes as I do now. The most difficult kinds of equations are inequalities, because I need to make sure I keep the right sign, flip it when we divide by a negative number. It just gets in the way, and you have to concentrate harder. Equations with decimals also cause me to hesitate, they are not difficult but they cause me to hesitate, although fractions are not problem for me.
2 - Yes, I have been trying many word problems because I struggle with word problems. After a lot of practice I am starting to feel more confident with word problems. The most difficult part of solving word problems is to understand what the word problem is asking you to solve.
3 - I learned it over winter break but I can’t seem to recall what they were >~<‘

  12. 1) Do you feel confident in solving equations? What are the most difficult kind of equations for you to solve?
Yes. I feel confident in solving equations. The most difficult equation for me to solve is figuring out the circumference. I make mistakes with calculations when you have to multiply the radius or diameter by 3.14.

    2) Are you getting better at writing equations and inequalities from word problems? What is the most difficult part of solving word problems?
Yes. I got better at writing equations and inequalities from word problems. The most difficult part for me is sometimes setting up the equation.

    3) Next chapter, we will study rates, ratios, and proportions. Describe everything you already know about these topics.
The only word that I know is ratio. Ratio is when you put : sign to show how the numbers are related. One last thing that I know about ratio is that it can be put into a fraction.

  13. 1) Do you feel confident in solving equations? What are the most difficult kinds of equations for you to solve?

I feel confident when solving equations but I make calculating mistakes and it lowers my confident THING about solving the equations.
I think the most difficult kind of equation is the positives and negatives because it really confuses me sometimes and I make a lot of silly mistakes.

    2) Are you getting better at writing equations and inequalities from word problems? What is the most difficult part of solving word problems?

I think I am getting better at writing equations and inequalities from word problems. I feel confident about writing equations and inequalities but I also think it is the hardest of all. I think that because everything can't be just easy at all times. So writing out equations and inequalities can be easy and hard.

    3) Next chapter, we will study rates, ratios, and proportions. Describe everything you already know about these topics.

I know about the rates, ratios and proportions are like comparing numbers and stuff but I think I need like a quick lesson about them so I can know them better.
